WHAT IS THE PYBL?

The Premier Youth Basketball League (PYBL) is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of youth in the community through the game of basketball.  Our goal is to give student athletes the platform to showcase their basketball talent in front of high school coaches. Athletes in the PYBL are not only recognized for their basketball skills, but they are also acknowledged for their academic achievements through our All-Academic teams.

Formed in 2014 the PYBL features teams from the following regions:

Maryland:

•Anne Arundel County
•Baltimore City
•Charles County
•Frederick County
•Howard County
•Montgomery County
•Prince George’s County
•Southern MD

Virginia:

•Alexandria City
•Arlington County
•Fairfax County
•Loudoun County
•Prince William County

Washington, DC

PYBL was created as an outlet for elite middle school basketball players during the winter months. The PYBL gives players an opportunity to participate in 8-12 games throughout the winter months (November- March). In addition to being one of the most competitive leagues in the Washington Metropolitan area, the PYBL gives players an advantage on High School recruiting.

Athletes participating in the league have the opportunity to network, building lasting relationships and play against other players with similar skills, talent level and goals.  The league simplifies the recruiting process for coaches, players and their families.  Dozens of high school coaches attend the weekly showcase events during the winter and summer seasons. An information session is offered to all PYBL players and families as an introduction to elite high school programs and the admissions process.

Due to the tremendous success of the first PYBL Winter season,  a summer season was added in the summer of 2014.   The Rising Stars division featuring upcoming 6th and 7th graders was added in the winter of 2015-2016 and this winter 2016-2017 we are excited about the addition of the Girls Division of the PYBL.
